WHPS Personal Development & Wellbeing
Our Vision
Welcome to our vision for prioritising the personal development and wellbeing of all children at WHPS.
Back in 2019, all the stakeholders at WHPS (children, staff, parents & governors), were involved in developing a set of values for the school. At WHPS, we believe these values should be instilled in our children from the day they start at our school.
As a result, we have developed a curriculum for ‘Personal Development and Wellbeing’ that starts in the Early Years and ends as they transition into secondary school.
Rationale:
Our school values are a key part of everyday life at WHPS.
We encourage our children to be confident speakers, understand their rights and play an active part in school life.
We believe that the views, experiences and influence of our children are an integral part of our drive to continuously improve our provision.
We seek ways to listen to the views of our children and involve them in decision-making so that they are engaged as partners in the life of the school.
Aims:
- To enhance the happiness, health, safety, resilience and self-esteem of all children at WHPS!
- To enable ALL children to have high aspirations in all aspects of school life,
- To help students understand their rights and the importance of being considerate and respecting the rights of others,
- To enable children to make a meaningful contribution to the school community and wider society,
- To develop leadership/decision-making skills as well as a responsibility for the school environment, local area and the world around them,
- To enable children to play a part in determining aspirational priorities for school development,
- To enable children to take responsibility for their learning and have confidence in voicing opinions,
- To ensure that all children, regardless of age, ability, social background or ethnicity, have equal opportunities to contribute to the wider school community,
- To create an inclusive school community where children feel valued and to strengthen social and emotional aspects of learning,
- To strengthen the WHPS community through the partnership between all stakeholders,
- To integrate the fundamental values of democracy, rule of law, respect, and tolerance. Alongside our school values, our children have a deep understanding of British Values.
